drupal.org Docs and Landing Page tools

March 25th, 2008

In order to provide both a working example of how the Documentation section of drupal.org might be better structured and an example of a more-usable “landing page” for drupal.org, I’ve created a one-page dynamic (javascript/HTML) outline of pretty much all of the Documentation at drupal.org.

Every leaf in the outline links to a specific page of documentation at drupal.org, and all branches of the outline tree can be expanded or collapsed at will.

Please keep in mind that this is not necessarily an outline of how the Documentation is currently organized, but rather just my opinion of how it might be better organized. The nifty thing about it is that you can use it right now and you can edit it right now.

My hope is that this will give us all a common tool with which to quickly share and test-out each other’s ideas about how Documentation at drupal.org might be better organized.

Have a look in the Documentation Forum at drupal.org for more info:

An Anarchist FAQ webpanel for the Opera browser

August 15th, 2006

Infoshop.org provides answers to all your questions about anarchism. “An Anarchist FAQ” is now available to Opera users as a webpanel.

FAQpanel.html

1. First save the above file to your local drive (right-click on the above link and select “Save target as”).
2. Browse to it (using Opera, of course).
3. Press Ctrl+T to bring up the “Add bookmark” dialog window.
4. Check “Show in panel”.
5. Click “OK”.

Now, you and your kids will always be only one click away from An Anarchist FAQ. And since you’ve stored the FAQpanel.html file locally, you’ll never have to worry about your Anarchist FAQ webpanel not working, should the above link ever become unavailable.
